But that didn't stop Amelle Berrabah flaunting her tootsies in a pair of cuffed thongs as she arrived back at her London hotel yesterday evening.
The Sugababe was heading out for a night with her new boyfriend but chose a more sensible pair of closed shoes for the occasion.
She probably realised that she would freeze if she went out for the night in them.
She unusual flip-flops were on the catwalk last year but are only just filtering through to the High Street, so expect to see a lot more of them this summer.
Amelle, 25, ventured out with Tom Benn after only recently going public with their relationship.
He is a former model who now works in management.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, she gushed: 'He's absolutely lovely. We've only been official for the past few weeks but it's great.
And a few weeks ago, according to the Sunday People, she has even hired Benn to manage her.
A source said: 'She's put Tom in charge of her affairs as she wants them to be together as much as possible.'
It was the second night out for the pop star after she spent Tuesday evening partying with fellow girl band The Saturdays.
In a pair of on-trend high-waisted jeans, Amelle joined the group at the Wrangler jeans party held at private members bar Whiskey Mist.
But it's no wonder Amelle is in the mood to party after seeing the new Sugababes album , Sweet 7, hit the record shop shelves this week.
It is also the first Sugababes album for member Jade Ewen, who was brought after the highly controversial departure of the group's longest serving member Keisha Buchanan, who left in September 2009.
Recently the girls admitted that they will call it quits.
